A Letter from the New FATF President

Collaboration

15 July 2014

Dear Mr. Byrne,

Thank you for your letter of July 8, 2014 and your kind words.

I am aware of ACAMS and of the work it does in bringing together and increasing the knowledge of the AML community. I do appreciate the importance of broader education on our issues of mutual interest and I note that ACAMS is growing in size and therefore in reach year by year.

As you have observed, it is my intention to continue and to expand the work of previous FATF Presidents in promoting meaningful engagement with the private sector and we have a number of mechanisms at our disposal for that purpose.

I wish you and ACAMS well in your AML/CFT work.

Yours sincerely,
Roger Wilkins

  1. There is wide room for cooperation and interaction between the FATF and the ACAMS. Continuous education and training are keys to the success to fight ML and TF. Congratulation to ACAMS for this great move toward greater recognition and professionalism. It is worth will to invest to strengthen the skills of employees and empower them to have capacity to detect all relevant red flags. The future is bright for those that invest in people first. The best tools are useless without expert people.
